The Mountain Bike Guide

Hi all,

My name is Frank Willems, I live in Hoensbroek in the far south of the province of Limburg (the Netherlands). One of my passions is mountain biking. How simple can an introduction be!  But nevertheless I have to tell you a bit more……

My first mountain bike was a TREK 930 Singletrack without any suspension, this should prove that I’m mountain biking for at least 30 years now. And riding my sixth or seventh (I lost count) mountain bike at the moment and also doing a lot of other mountain bike related activities like trail building and bike clinics. And after 30 years of  riding a mountain bike my skills are on a certain level that I also like to share my knowledge with other enthusiasts. Until today I’m still learning new skills or improve my current skills. Maybe this is also the reason why I still love this sport so much. And…. the limit of my riding techniques has not yet been reached.

To keep pushing the boundaries of my biking skills the Netherlands but also Limburg are a bit too small. So I had to  get passed the borders to work on that. But if you live in the south of Limburg you don’t need to drive far to cross country borders. So the nice biking spots near the German and Belgium border are already discovered and visited a lot. I also been in the Alpes and Pyrenees to ride all those beautiful technical trails.

From 2013 I regularly visit Luxembourg, and to be precise the area called Müllerthal. This region is also known as little Switzerland. With this region I almost immediately got a connection. After some clumsy habituation rides I understood quite quick what type of underground and type of trails I had to deal with. And like it often goes: the more you get lost the earlier you learn how the trails connect. But after 10 years of biking the wrong trails the wrong direction I have these trails stored in my head like Google maps. The use of navigation tools is more and more an exception. The region, the streams, the small bridges and the impressing rock formations still fascinating me as soon as I jump on my bike. Maybe thats the reason why I want to share my passion for this region with other mountain bikers. And to make sure that other mountain bikers enjoy their rides without getting lost or frolic with their GPS device I regularly organize guided mountain bike rides in this unique Luxemburgish Müllerthal region. Let me show you that riding with a guide is much more fun and also much safer than riding without.
